About the Trip

Let unReel Fishing take you somewhere you’ve never dreamed of! On-board you very own bespoke fishing boat, unReel One, depart from Frankton Marina with your local guide and take to the crystal clear waters of Lake Wakatipu.

Surrounded by breath-taking scenery made famous by the Lord of the Rings, you and up to 7 of your mates can fish for Salmon, Rainbow and Brown trout 365 days a year.

unReel One is an 8.5 meter Scott Robson design for the lake and is surveyed under the Maritime safety authority. It carries a complete range of safety equipment.

Once onboard we travel a short distance (depending on the trip length and weather on the day) across Lake Wakatipu. The method we use to fish on the lake is trolling using downriggers, lead core line and surface lines. All fishing gear is provided on board. Lake Wakatipu is 399m deep at its deepest point. This is why we use downriggers to get down deeper to where the fish are.

Trolling is a relaxed style of fishing - which leaves you able to take in the breath-taking scenery.

Trips leave from Frankton Marina - or pickups are available on request from  jetties on Lake Wakatipu. Trips are a minimum of 2 hours - Private charters and private trips are available on request. Your are always more than welcome to bring drinks and refreshments on-board.

Exclusions

• Fishing License - you can purchase a fishing license on the Fish & Game website – fishandgame.org.nz/licences/ or onboard, at the start of you unReel Fishing experience.
